The fifth season of the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series debuted on September 29, 2012. It was first confirmed to be in development in December 2011. Unlike the series' four previous seasons, Cartoon Network airs Season Five on Saturday mornings at 9:30 ET;[1][2] The Clone Wars previously aired on Friday night in prime time, at 9:00 PM ET.

Hasbro has suggested that they feel this will be the last season of The Clone Wars.[3] However, Director Dave Filoni has disputed this.[4] In Star Wars Insider 137, Filoni reiterated his intention to keep making the show as long as people are watching, and announced that his staff has begun working on scripts and designs for a sixth season.[5] Unlike previous seasons, Season Five will consist of only twenty episodes.
